Hi, just downloaded and installed sierra charts and running into a problem with downloading a chartbook. It keeps giving me an error that says, "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page." I have sierra and can open it. I also checked the default apps and it's not even listed there.. know what I can do to fix it?? I'm not really familiar with sierra and tried to find this in the FAQ with no luck. Thanks in advance.

So you are not creating a chartbook but downloading a chartbook from somewhere else? Did you paste it into your data folder?

This is the error you get when you try to Open a file without having an app associated with the file type. Double-Clicking, or select "Open when download is complete" will tell windows to find the application that is used with the file type, and ask the application to open it, as a command line parameter.

For example:
notepad.exe myfile.txt

As notepad.exe is normally associated with *.txt files, then double-clicking the file will have notepad open the file.

You can associate sierrachart_64.exe with *.cht files.

Thanks, I am downloading a chartbook from someone else. I saved it to the "data" folder and can now find it when i go to open chartbook from sierra application. But now it says "invalid symbol" when I click it and ESH21 historical data should show up. I feel like i'm close haha.

I can see different chart options on the bottom with symbols and timeframes (I believe these are preset by the person who made the chartbook) but when I click them there is no data.. just blank screen where the chart should be.
