[User Discussion] - Spreadsheet Formula in Row 2 keeps disappearing

I'm creating a nested formula in a Spreadsheet System for Trading that will display the name of my various setups, if the criteria for them is present, so that I can then display that on a chart to call my attention to it.

It works just fine since I can display the label from Row 2 on a chart, but periodically the whole formula just disappears and Row 2 resets back to being a letter, losing my work. I can't find any particular pattern or action that causes this, it just happens randomly and is really giving me headaches. Anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it?

So I don't even have to be doing anything. I just walked away from my desk for lunch, came back and the formula in Row 2 is gone. So there is some sort of automatic "reset" happening somehow.

Additionally, any time I manually recalculate the spreadsheet, the formula disappears.

BTW turns out this happens if the formula evaluates to an error in column 2. It will reset back to the letter the column originally had. Confusing and weird but there it is.

Not sure what you are trying to do, but formulas should not go in row 2. They go in row 3, and then they are automatically filled down as many rows as the study settings uses.

Formulas can go in row 2, in fact it is the only way you can display a text label on a chart from a spreadsheet. Whatever is in row 2, becomes the name label and can easily be displayed. I use it quite a lot and it's fantastically useful.

Yep and that documents exactly what I figured out on my own eventually...

"If the result of the formula is not a text value, but a number, error, empty value, or something else, the formula will be replaced with the default name of the column."
