I was just informed that SC will not work with the new M1 chip utilized in Apple's newest Macbook computers. Does anyone else have any knowledge of this before I attempt to run SC on a new Macbook Pro 16" via Parallels?
Thanks

It's a non-starter.

Parallels doesn't support Apple silicon, yet.

Windows doesn't license it's ARM operating system, yet.

SierraChart doesn't distribute ARM binaries.. yet?!

edit: but the MBP16" is still Intel!

That is an ARM processor. We are going to support ARM processors in Sierra Chart. We will try to get this task done soon.

I assume this would also apply to Codeweavers Crossover or not?

Can anyone verify that Codeweavers Crossover will work with the new M1 chip in Mac's?

Or does SC have to support ARM processors first? Has this been completed by SC?

Thanks

Anyone know the status of any of these? I assume that also means SC won't work with Crossover yet either?

Parallels now supports Apple Silicon. A Beta version of Windows for ARM is available when you join the free Windows Insider program, and it seems to run fine in Parallels on an m1.

Haven’t seen any updates from Sierra Chart, though.

I'm computer illiterate so are you saying Sierra Chart will not run using Parallels until SC supports ARM processors?

Same with CodeWeavers Crossover?

Thanks

That's correct, SC needs to support ARM to run on Parallels on an M1 Mac.

Not necessarily, Crossover does support running Intel applications on M1, but I don't know if SC has been tested. Definitely worth a try.

Would be fantastic to have SC support for ARM processors.

So Sierra Chart worked seamlessly, no issues whatsoever?

What do you mean "returned to Windows because of other program"? Couldn't you run that other program in Crossover also?

Thanks

I am using ,

Trade Idea pro
Interactive Broker TWS
Sierra chart

On Mac M1 , I was able to make them all load and work with minimal issues. Under 6 Monitor - 4 of them with Display link adaptor

But to make it clear, you will need to accept some little hiccup here and there and to do extra step to make it work, but it work.

Some Issues
I was not able to link my Trade Idea to sierra chart , like a quoteboard.
I had some crash , not often BTW
TWS was a little slow ( it was a mac version too )
OPEN GL function does not work on mac
I could not load as many chart as I wanted. ( I max out the CPU and RAM )
Sierra chart could not be load on another Hard drive, it had to be on the main drive ( crossover related issues.)

SO, I return to PC for more support and less headache .
And now I found out the perfect setup for me.

5800x or equivalent
32GB of ram
Video card 1060 and up or equivalent ( newer version only )
M.2 for sierra chart only
and Process Lasso to decide where sierra chart is going to use his resources.

Hope this help.

One last thing, Crossover have a trial version and MAC have a trial period too , Maybe you can try it out yourself and see if its good enough for you.

I don't currently have an M1 Mac but planning on purchasing one as soon as I am sure Crossover and Sierra Chart will work. I have a simple setup, one monitor, 2 chartbooks with 3 different charts with volume. No other software to run but I was hoping to run SC on its own SSD, I guess that won't happen.

Thanks

Is there any news regarding ARM version? Is there a chance to get native ARM Mac version in near future?

Supporting ARM for Windows is a totally different thing to supporting Macs with Apple Silicon ARM-based chips.

It is. But developers stated that they are going to make ARM version for Windows and planning to port Sierra to Mac/Linux. So it's 2-in-1 question.
