Hi there, unfortunately I can't get chart bars to change color based on a simple formula ID1.SG1>.5 (using Color Bar Based on Alert Condition study); however, if I change the drawing style to stars or triangles, these will actually show over top of the bars...Any idea on why the color bars won't work?

Thanks in advance

Any thoughts on this, anyone?

There may be more than one of reasons. Send here a picture with the settings of your study ...

My apologies, I just realized that I sent you the study upon which the Color Bars Based On Alert Condition study acts. Please see additional screenshots for the CBBOAC study itself.

You can use the "Drawstyle ColorBar" for an output that is in the form of a candle ... never for curves or anything else
(outside the main region in another region eg for Heikin Ashi study etc.)

Change your drawstyle to another type such as line or dash or bar

Ok, is there anyway to color bars, in particular for 'custom spreadsheet study output bars' that reside outside the main region? (the output bars resemble volume bars, and are in region 3).

Thank you

Ps. using the 'bar' draw style won't work for me because when the bar is plotted it is the full height of the region (i.e. it covers up the underlying bar) - and I need to see the underlying bar as its height represents the output of a spreadsheet study.

marking:
Background, Transparent Backgroud, Transparent Fill to Zero....

Thank you, I will try those. But just so I can put the whole coloring-bars-idea to rest, can you confirm that there is 'no way' to color bars in the manner I was hoping?

Ps. Assuming the answer to my question above, is 'there is no way', I was wondering if you can put forward my ask - for coloring bars - for consideration in future improvements/updates?

what is wrong with getting this study to include other drawing styles? If you have multiple cases to use this study, then they overlap each other with only a limited amount of drawstyles. Certainly, it is possible to declare a color for which multiple alert conditions would overlap, but the flexibility would be more essential.
