I have a little problem with the window size.
Always when I open SC (and I have set some auto open CBs) then the chart windows in those CBs are not maximized, although I save and leave SC with maximized chart windows (not detached).
Also when I switch between CBs then it takes some 2 seconds while the windows shortly look not maximized and then do maximize. also although I left the CB in the same SC session maximized. this is kind of anoying as it always takes 2-3 secs until I can see the chart window when switching CBs ...

hope the problem is clear and hope there is a solution, also when it is a minor problem...

thx!!!

Clearly these are some kind of operating system issue on your side.

We do not see how we can help with them. We do not observe them ourselves.

In the case of charts within the main Sierra Chart window, only one chart at a time can be maximized. When you save the Chartbook and there is one chart maximized and you open that same Chartbook, that same chart will be maximized.

When you switch Chartbooks, whatever was the last chart that was maximized, will be the chart that is maximized. If this is not functioning correctly or there is a delay with maximizing the window, then we do see this as an operating system problem.

Sometimes we do hear about issues with the restoring of the size and position of a window when someone is using multiple monitors. and clearly those are operating system issues. We have not heard about what you are reporting, before.

Our suggestion is to try another computer.

OK, thx. Multiple monitor might be the reason but I doubt i am the only one using more than one.
Other computer is clearly NO choice, as this one is brand new (running on win 7).

one more comment to this.
I just realised that when I finish SC (which I do by simply hitting the X top right on the window) I am asked if I want to save first and then when it closes it first makes all windows smaller which might be the problem. Is that normal?
thx

Yes that is normal and that is not the source of the problem. The maximized window is remembered before that happens.

Running Windows 8 Pro and SC 1128 across 4 displays.

I have 5 chartbooks.

I spend 2 minutes adjusting the 11 windows in each chartbook to maximize the screen space every time SC is opened.

The worst part is that Save All does not make any difference.

I can get a chartbook configured like I want it, Select File Save; close ONLY the chartbook (not closing SC) ; re-open that chartbook and the windows are scattered again.

Clearly, the remembered window positions are not accurate or this chartbook would open in the exact same location.

In the past, I've tried resetting all child-windows, and main windows back to the main panel, then doing a clean layout. Same results.

In addition, 1) the Trade Windows do not stay open between chartbook opens/closes and 2) the header on the Time and Sales window always comes back and has to be toggled off.

How do I correct any of these issues?

Refer to help topic 14 here:

So they are not open at all. Could they be covered by another window? We need a way to duplicate this problem. If this is really true, this would be an issue on our side. But we cannot duplicate it.
In addition, 1) the Trade Windows do not stay open between chartbook opens/closes and 2)

the header on the Time and Sales window always comes back and has to be toggled off.
We do not observe this. The title bar will become hidden within a second or two after the Time and Sales window is created.

Other than the issue with the Trade Window, you are experiencing operating system-level problems. And we have little interest in spending time on this because really we cannot do anything about these issues because we cannot duplicate them or they are out of our control.

We recommend not using Windows 8 and minimizing the number of monitors on each system to two monitors and instead just use multiple computer systems.

You want me to use two computers to have four screens? this is a joke in times of 16GB RAM, fast CPUs, SSDs etc. seriously.

(I come arround with the issues I have using 3 moniturs)

We are 110% serious. Please look at help topic 14:

We have no further comment on this.

You are experiencing a problem with your own operating system and video driver. This is not our issue and we will spend no further time on this at all. The problem is Microsoft and the video driver provider are not taking care of the problem for you. That is where the problem is. Please take the problem to them. And not us. We can do nothing about this. The reason these problems come to us is because those guys are not responsive to questions directed to them about this.

And once again, we are 110% serious about what we said. This is not our issue.

Hey AKR

I haven't tried these things yet, but it's better than nothing.

https://github.com/OgmiosVoice/WindowLock
https://github.com/adamsmith/WindowsLayoutSnapshot
http://winsize2.sourceforge.net/
http://softwaresolution.informer.com/Free-Window-Positioning-Utility/

http://www.sterlingtrader.com/documents/Solution_MWNSL.pdf
I'm including the text in case the link goes away.

The solution is the following:
1. Click on the Settings tab of the Display Properties window of your desktop. The
Settings tab will show the physical display arrangement of your Dual or Multiple
Monitor configuration.

2. Make certain that, whichever monitor is designated as your primary monitor (it
doesn’t matter whether it’s monitor number 1, 2, 3 or 4 so long as you have
designated it as your primary) is positioned either to the left of the other monitor(s),
or on top of the other monitor(s). Then your Sterling Trader Pro and Manager will
initially open up onto the primary monitor; furthermore, the locations where you have
placed the various application windows will remain saved and in effect after you
have logged out of and then back into Sterling Trader Pro or Manager again.

3. If your primary/secondary monitor configuration is not set up correctly as just
described above, you can modify it from within this Settings tab screen to attain the
correct configuration; you simply drag the designated primary monitor either to the
left of or on top of, the other secondary monitor(s).

*NOTE*
The technical reason why it is necessary to position the primary monitor either to the left
of the other monitor(s), or on top of the other monitor(s) - is because then it will have
numerically positive position coordinates, beginning at 0/0 ++. If, on the other hand, the
primary monitor is wrongly positioned to the right of or below the other, secondary
monitor(s), then the primary monitor will have numerically negative position coordinates;
it will start at 0/0, but then from that point onward it will move leftward into the negative
(- -) territory. This in turn hinders the ability to save the application window locations
because the primary monitor is supposed to extend the desktop display onto the
secondary monitors. It cannot extend (or save) locations onto numerically negative
coordinates.

The top left monitor in the quad has been set as primary.

I did NOT use <window>+<left, right> to size each chart and simply got them close making sure their edges are not bleeding on to adjacent monitors.

2 out of 2 chartbooks are already working better in that the layout position is holding!

1 chart book opens the trade windows in the correct location the other does not open trade windows at all.

The opposite chart book opens T&S with the title missing as desired, and the other always displays titles.

Regardless, this is a huge improvement just having the windows in the correct locations.

Good luck.

thx, actually my windows do more ore less stay as they are. and as long I do not have any window maximized I also do not experience delays when changing chartebooks. but what is really annoying is that I have eg 4 chart windows in a chart book and I manually adjust them to fit in the chart book. when I switch chart books and come back it happens that the size somehow minimal changes and therefore do not 100% fit anymore and I get those ???? "thigs" to move the content of the window (of CB) on right side and bottom. (dont know english word). so I then either let it (and dont see some milimeters of right and bottom) or I readjust those windows all the time :-) (which I dont ... actually it helps to leave some space below the lowest window and right of the most right window. only if I try to adjust the windows to the full CB windwo I get those problems. And I am a little MONK so I´d love to have it "perfect" which is not possible... but I guess I am getting the possibility to personal develop here :-) ). But windows outside of the main SC window on an other screen do stay where they are and dont change ...

I found and started using this today - http://winsplit-revolution.com/

Quite a nice little tool. I've placed the windows where I want them across three screens. Saved and closed Sierra, reopened and everything is where it was.

Support, is there a specific graphics card/driver/monitor configuration you recommend that will eliminate these issues, particularly with running multiple copies of SC across 3 monitors+? Would one graphics card per pair of monitors work better than 3+ monitors per card?
