When using my footprint / DOM charts I experience a delay normally but especially when volatile price action is present, I believe one of the main reasons is the number of charts I

have on my chartbook but I do have a good size PC that I believe is capable of supporting all the data but not too entirely sure if that is the main issue

On my end are there any settings i can change to help improve this ?

Yes. You can use sub instances of Sierra Chart to distribute processing load. Refer to these two sections:

Is using sub instance to distribute processing load also an issue when using Denali datafeed? Or with Denali datafeed processing is already done in separate process in primary instance so theres no use to use primary instance for data processing and subinstance for charting and trading?

The recommendation to use a sub instance, primarily is not in relation to data feed processing. So you would definitely still want to use sub instances when using the Denali data feed or any Sierra Chart provided data feed, if you are doing a lot of processing in the main instance with charts.

I created and saved a separate chartbook to test out on the new instance and when I open the new instances and go to open chartbooks the most recent one I saved is not there

Also what would be the difference data wise between the new instance option and just creating a new chartbook and flipping through it ?

Regarding post #5, refer to:
Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance: Each Sub Instance is Independent (Each Sub Instance is Independent)

The difference is that a sub instance, would run on a separate thread and separate CPU core.

What do you exactly mean? Which one is true?
a) If I had many charts in primary instance it would be good idea to distribute half of them to subinstance
b) If I had only ONE but very complicated chart with many studies, etc - should I run it on subinstance with NO CHARTS left on main instance?

Thanks!

Both of these are true. But you have to make your own evaluation. You know what you are doing and you know what performance issues you are seeing. It does not help to ask us. It is best to help yourself based upon what you are observing.

That's true but I wanted to know your take on that.

Before Denali you said it's good to use primary instance for datafeed processing and substance for charting. Then you advertised Denali as a solution that process the datafeed on different dedicated thread so main instance has full core for itself and I did notice sierra finally running on two cores.

So I'm kinda surprised that I should be still distributing my work between main instance and subinstance, having subinstance for charting but main instance for what now?
