Hi,

I really was hoping that as a suggestion you would add in the drop down menu on ADVANCED SETTINGS 2 (VERTICAL GRID LINES)
a drop down that is just VOLUME. you have number of bars but it would be great to run a time chart and have a vertical grid
that draws on volume. yeah we unederstand that if the volume is lower than the time that it might draw lots of verricals over our
time bar but then we would just add more volume nnumber to the drop down under volume on the vertical grid lines.

this would be a great feature.

Second, I am not looking for support with this request. is there a place or an area that WE USERS should be using for suggestions instead
of the support request area? i am just wanting to speed up your work load for real support requests versus suggestions as well as
keep the support requests to a minimum to help everyone who uses sierra chart.
thank you

In answer to your second item, there is a separate forum for User Discussion and Programming Help. You will see the link at the top of the first page of the Support Board, or you can access it from this link:

You can definitely add vertical lines at least in the main price graph region, based on whatever condition you want. Refer to:

while I appreciate your response when i see that i can just click
seconds
minutes
hours
days
weeks
months
bars
session start
pixels
start of trading day

why would you not just add a cehck box that says VOLUME?

Isn't it true that if i were a programmer i could actually program everything Sierra chart is doing with raw data?
Should I assume or should we assume that going forward even simple redundant program lines in sierra will never be added for the ease
and convenience of your customers. Is this the new DEFAULT ANSWER? oh you can just program that if you want.

of course someone who is great at programming can probably program another sierra chart correct? the problem is that takes time and a learning curve,.

You know if it was my company i would say. yeah good suggestion we added almost every other possbile variable for easy vertical line integration but
we left out using volume. so yeah we will try and add it soon ok.

but nope i get over and over again.. just program it.

I ALWAYS tell people sierra chart is not that difficult once you learn it , but understand new customers will be reading these help forums and they might
come to the unfortunate realization that in order to use SIERRA chart you need to be a programmer which is far from true but if even simple things
are always defaulted to well YOU YOU YOU can just program it. ok
thanks

We considered the technical implementation of this, but this is actually very different, than the conditions for drawing vertical lines now. It would not be efficient and it is a significant implementation. It is not anything that we can do. And we would not really consider this.

Update, the only way this could be done is through a study. It makes no sense for it to be a vertical grid option. That is wholly inconsistent with how the vertical grid works.

When you get a chance, please look into adding selections for the following conditions

Session End
Session Start and End

under Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings 2 >> Vertical Grid Lines.

These conditions should be in line with the current method of drawing vertical lines, and could be easily added to the list of available selections.

Thanks.

P.S. Always happy to contribute to programming costs if it helps fully implement this for users.

Not sure how it helps to have Session End because when using Session Start when one session ends, another one begins. So there is already a line between the transition from one session to the next.

Not necessarily when both evening and regular sessions are in use concurrently though.

One widely used Session Times setup has Start and End times of

09:30:00 to 16:14:59 (regular session)
18:00:00 to 16:59:59 (evening session)

By enabling the Vertical Grid Lines for both the Session Start and End conditions together users would have the full control of placing lines at both the beginning and end of each session automatically.

And no need for the discrete Session End control when Session Start and End is fully implemented for users.

Hopefully this makes the use case clear.

Thanks.

P.P.S. Kindly advise what programming costs may be incurred to complete this solution when you can.
