Hi,

i was wondering how to set the charts to have valid simple moving averages. I see 200 daily ma is about 50 pips from where it should be (on other platforms). Is that beacuse of my wrong "trading hours setting" or something like that?

Please help me with this settings.

Best regards!

You will want to add a Moving Average-Simple study with a Length input set to 200 to a Historical Daily chart.

If this does not match another program, then you are misunderstanding what you are seeing in the other program or there is some variation of the data.

I have this set exactly as you said. But i see 200 simple dma way lower in two other platforms than i have it here. It must be something wrong with my settings.

I have 2000 days displayed on historical chart. What else could I miss?

First, compare the closes of the two charts for each bar, are they different? Most likely the charts are not using the same end of day or one chart has Sunday as a separate day. Second, if they are the same (or very close), then change to a shorter period, e.g. 20, and manually add the closing figures to see if they are calculating correctly.

As long as you have at least 200 days of data loaded in the chart, certainly you will have much more than that, then the calculations Sierra Chart is performing is accurate.

Most likely the variation is going to be due to small differences with the underlying data.

You can check how many days are loaded in the chart through Chart >> Chart Settings.
