Hi
I have a historical daily candlestick chart, relatively short term e.g. 60 days.
In this chart I tried to insert a very longterm composite volume who shows me the total volume from the last 6 years per price. Unfortunately I can not solve this problem, have tried so many things.

The reason is, I don't want to load more than 2000 candlesticks, I don't need them, only the the huge Composite VP with a the last 60 days shown as candlesticks.

If anyone could help me to give me the hint to solve this, I would really appreciate.

Thanks a lot und kind regards,
Stephan

I am somewhat new to Sierra and I looked and do not see any option in the drop down menu to reference more bars than your chart. However, I have not tried this but this is the only solve I can think of and hopefully it would work. Create a new chart - does not need to have anything but the 6 years of data. Then in the 60 day chart use the Study/Price Overlay Study to add the composite to the 60 day chart you use.

I hope Sierra has a better way since I would like to do what you are wanting also but this is the only way I know.

Auch in A's Kurs gewesen? ;) Ich lade den gesamten Zeitraum und lasse mir Wochen/ Monate anzeigen. Dann das VP drüber.

@User750920 - thanks a lot for your hint *ThumbUp*

@MikeVon

[ENG] Yes, of course, also a A's disciple *smile* therefore I need a very longterm composite profile. Have left Ninja und now all set up in SierraChart - really great and very fast!
Could you please save such a chart as a study and attach as file here or as private message? If needed or helpful I kindly share my studies/chartbook, which contains all relevant but very simple indicators/top/vps/megabars/megavols etc. but I'm struggeling with the huge longterm composite profile.

Kind regards,
Stephan

You cannot do what you are wanting to do. The Volume by Price study uses the data that is in the chart. So if you want a Volume by Price profile that covers 6 years, then you need to have 6 years worth of data loaded into the chart.

Ok, I understand, thank you for explanation!

What is in this case the "cheapest" way in terms of performance and data load/memory consumption in "chart settings" to set for huge longterm composite profile and is there in relation to settings a difference in precision (ticks/daily/weekly data)? Better to "User Number of Days to Load" or "Use Date Range" as Bar Period in "Daily" or "Weekly"?

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards, Stephan

The most important thing is to use a larger Tick Size or increase the Volume at Price Multiplier. Both of these are in Chart >> Chart Settings.
