If I disconnect data, why am I not able to see my charts with the locally stored data? Does data not get stored locally? Is there something that needs to be configured for this to happen?

This is not making any sense. There should never be a question about this and it is not something that is ever asked. If you open a chart for existing stored data through File >> New/Open Historical/Intraday Chart, the chart will display.

I know it shouldn't but its happening. I am opening an existing chart book and it is blank with the message "Downloading continuous contract data". I think it has been happening to me for at least the past couple of months, it never used to happen before.

If I open a new chart however, it pulls up the data, but I need the data to show up in my existing chartbook.

Well we do not know exactly the details surrounding this. We would have to see the Message Log but do not provide that.

There should definitely be no re-downloading of data for a continuous futures contract chart assuming this chart is set that way.

There are two things we want you to do. Disable the use of custom symbol settings:

Global Symbol Settings: Use Custom Symbol Settings Values (Global Settings >> Symbol Settings)

This is 100% critical.

You may have altered rollover settings which is causing a problem.

And also update to the current version of Sierra Chart:
