Is is possible to get the format of the file so I can do bulk addition? I have 3 accounts at present - one with VF that I trade with SC, but I also have one at IB and one at TS. I think it would be mighty nice to be able to add it all to the SC trade database, so I can have a visual representation of all the trades over the last few years. I know I can insert one or two trades from the menu, and filling up the form, but it is impossible for anything more than a few trades. Thanks!

No. Because this is not documented. This would be a major task to document. And also sometimes there are small changes.

Some pointers would have been nice. I mean, this can be an "unsupported" thing. If you feel charitable to send me the specs / rough code fragments etc., that would be nice. If not, well, couldn't hurt to ask, right?

Thanks anyways.

We will add the capability to import order fills from a text file. This is much more reasonable. Providing specifications, is time-consuming for us and it can change.

That would be more awesome than what I was looking for. While you are at it, perhaps exporting them to a text file as well?

Export capability already exists through the File menu on the Trade Activity Log.

I was wondering if Support can help me with a related issue. I am on release 1030, and I don't see the import functionality.

Recently I became a direct paying customer of SC (more money for you, yay!) from a broker provided copy. This is because I changed brokers. Now suddenly all my trade markings on my chart is gone! I looked into it a bit, and it seems this is because my "TradeAccount" is different (of course). I can make the trades show up on my chart, if I go through the trades one by one, and edit them to change the old account number to the new account number. However, this is clearly not possible for all the trade entries. However, this can easily be done if I could export the logs to text file, bulk search/replace and import them back.

Can I make one more plea to implement the functionality? Many thanks!

Unfortunately, you will have to edit the order fills one by one. Import capability has not yet been added.

Is there an update on the import capability for the TradeActivityLog.dat file?

I second the request to provide the format of the file. Just providing the .h structures, without explanation or support, would probably be perfectly adequate for building an outside tool to combine activity logs from different machines/brokers or recreate a lost activity log from broker downloads.

We will look at adding import capability. Previously, there were some difficult considerations with it which made it a problem. But it should work OK now. We will only support importing fills, and each fill should have a unique fill execution ID.
