I have : - Macbook Pro 15 inch 2019 - Catalina 10.15.4 - 2.4 Ghz 8-Core i9 - 32Gb Memory - Radeon Pro Vega 16 builtin graphics - with a Blackmagic eGpu Radeon RX Vega 56 8Gb - LG34WK95U external monitor Running Parallels Desktop Pro 15 for Mac, 15.1.4 - 8 processors - 12 Gb - Graphics auto and "best for external displays) The Macbook Pro runs at about 68 deg C entire day with fans maxed out at near 6000 rpm. Anyone running SC on Parallels? Doesn't seem like should be running that hot. Mac is fine once I minimize Parallels - fans slow to a whisper after few mins and temp down to 45-52 deg C. Comments, suggestions? Has anyone tried running SC on PC remote and log in to PC from Macbook? My thought was run CPU intensive SC on PC with trading software and login in remotely. Any issues on lag, etc. and/or will that stress the Mac as much as Parallels? Intuitively it does not seem like it should put stress on Mac CPU as much as Parallels VM. Thanks |

I am accessing my windows pc with sierra via splashtop without any problems no stress at all for the mac. Also rdp is working but can only handle 1 screen on the windows pc. Main reason for me was limited disk capacity on my macbook and pricing for disk upgrades. I also did notice strange load behaviour and fan speed increase with windows on parallels but mostly is was because of windows and not the trading software according to the taskmanager.

Thanks. Interesting. So can you actually trade via remote desktop - meaning the remote access via Mac is very responsive? I'm just a scalper, intraday swing trader so I need rapid response. As for Parallels, Windows isn't the resource hog on my Mac. I can load other graphic intensive and cpu intensive software in the VM and there is no stress on Mac - fans run slow speed and temp is low 50s deg C. As soon as I load SC, up to mid 60s and fans peg at 6000 rpm. |

Mainly using splashtop (home version = free) to access the win pc. Yes i can and do trade also in a scalping way w/o any issues. Also having bookmap running on the win pc - no problems.

Ok. Appreciate it. Thank you for info. If I choose that route, I’ll probably use jumpdesk. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2020-05-19 21:52:19
