Hi,

I have been using the "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition" study to mark some special bars. The nice thing about this approach is that:

Once I set everything up for the one-minute chart, I can then do a "Duplicate Chart", change the intra-day time period of the new chart to "five minute", and a five-minute chart with all the special bars marked will appear. If I set up a "Spreadsheet System/Alert" study for the one-minute chart, and perform the above duplication process, would all the five-minute special bars be marked correctly ?

I am considering using a spreadsheet because:
a) If I assign one "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition" to one type of special bars, there will be about 15 such studies per chart. It may cause performance issues.

b) As I continue to refine the definition of these special bars, the logical statements become longer and longer. Some of them have exceeded the limit of the Condition box: if I paste the whole logical statement into the Condition box, it will get truncated; if I try to manually type in the rest, nothing will appear.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi,

Just did a simple test. If I set up a "Spreadsheet System/Alert" study for the one-minute chart, and perform the above duplication process, none of the five-minute special bars would be marked. That means I may need to manually type in all the formulae on a particular source sheet for each time frame: a very tedious process.

Any suggestions ?

What you need to do for now is adjust the Formula Source Sheet Number input with the Spreadsheet study on the duplicated chart to be set to the original Chart Number. This is going to be the Sheet in the Spreadsheet where the formulas are.

This problem will be resolved in the next release of Sierra Chart.

If the formulas are the same for all charts, go to the spreadsheet study settings on each duplicated chart and change the Formula Source Sheet Number to the sheet with the original formulas.

Or you can highlight the entire sheet with the original formulas (click on the square above the row numbers, to the left of the column letters), and copy/paste it to each of the other sheets.

Hi,

I installed version 1079, added the "Spreadsheet System/Alert" study to a five-minute chart, and wrote a formula to mark the inside bars. I then performed a "Duplicate Chart", changed the time-frame of the new chart to "one minute", and a one-minute chart with all the inside bars marked appeared.

It seems that this problem has been resolved.

Thanks.
