According to the message log shown at Sierra's startup the support for v1808 is going to be discontinued on the last day of April. Can you please extend the support for this version for a few more weeks.

I am running highly customized version of Windows XP (trimmed down with nLite, with all updates until May of 2019) and just didn't have time to complete the work on the similar customized version of Windows 7 (it's already installed on another partition but needs some fine tuning). SC v1808 is the last version which works with XP, and it also happens to work ok with IB TWS v978. I only need charting functionality which still runs just fine in v1808.

I have learnt over the years that the best course of action to deal with all the bloat of a Windows OS is to either use an embedded variant or to use a stock version and then remove all unnecessary components and services (.Net, indexing service, Movie Maker, etc.) from the installation ISO file with a third party tool like nLite (for XP) or NTLite (for Win7, 8, 8.1 and 10). I use Linux for everyday tasks and Windows only on a dedicated trading machine.

Thanks.

Yes we can do that. But please do begin to use Windows 7. Windows 7 is generally fine.

However, many of our users are successful with using Sierra Chart on Linux. You should as well. As time goes by, the reliance on the Windows operating system by Sierra Chart becomes less and less. It will be at its absolute minimum we expect no later than the first quarter of next year and porting to another operating system will then become possible.

The reduced reliance on the Windows API also means that running Sierra Chart under Wine on Linux becomes more stable and has less potential issues.

Can you please re-enable connection support for v1808, if possible. I asked for extension of support for "a few more weeks" and it stopped working just after five days. Last time I was connected on May 5th at 10:41 UTC and it was working just fine.

I still need to install all updates on my fresh installation of Windows Embedded Standard 7 and then recompile all dlls in Sierra. I can do all that only on the weekends. Once it's all done I will try out Linux/Wine as well.

Thanks

We apologize for this. This was inadvertent. We will get the restriction removed. And also somehow we were thinking that you were mentioning days but you did say weeks.
