I have a TPO chart study. I am trying to set it so I can switch between just pit session from 9:30 to 16:14:59 and a 24 hours view.

I spent a bunch of time trying to figure this out and found a way. Can you please let me know if I set this up properly?

In Chart Settings, I have this setting:

Start Time: 9:30:00
End Time: 16:14:59

Evening Start: 9:30:00
Evening End Time: 9:29:59

Then in my TPO setting:

New Period At Day Session Start When Using Evening: No
Exclude Evening Session Profiles Except for Last Day: No

To toggle between pit session and 24 hours, I press Ctrl+G

Maybe I have some other settings but for the Chart Settings, it seems counter intuitive to have my evening start time set at 9:30:00 but that seemed to work. is this the correct way to do this? I couldn't find exact documentation on this. Thanks.

Not quite. You just need to set your Evening Session to be from 16:15:00 to 09:29:59.

Then when you toggle between Evening Session On/Off you will get what you want.

It may appear to work the way you have it, but this could cause issues with other studies and with how it interprets the beginning of a session for various items. Therefore, it is not recommended that you keep it the way you have it.

Another option is simply to have 2 charts that have the differing session times and switch between the charts, rather than having to wait for the recalculation.

The issue I have is if I have Evening Session to be from 16:15:00 to 09:29:59. When I use the Evening Session, the start time becomes the Evening Start time. Screenshot attached showing start time for the day is at 16:15:00.

I want the start time to remain at 9:30:00 whether I look at pit session or 24 hour session. Is there another option or is 2 charts the way to go? Thanks.

Just one thing to keep in mind. The exchanges consider the beginning of the trading day the beginning of the Evening Session. For example, the start of the trading day for April 3 is at the beginning of the Evening Session on April 2.

But, if you still want to see it the way you are stating, then the best thing to do is to have 2 different charts and have the Primary Session time go from 16:15:00 to 16:14:59.

thank you! I didn't realize start time is officially beginning of evening session. I went with the 2 charts options as this worked!

Just FYI, the reason I want to keep the 9:30:00 start time is because I need the actual beginning of session for the day to be the start of my Volume Profile. That would 9:30:00 for S&P. This is when most volume begins for the day and people begin trading.
