I canceled in the symbol setting (from global settings) the option to save the data to file and set also the # of levels to be 0 and then shut down SC and reopened and still SC does save my depth data
I do have on my charts the historical depth indicator working (even when i hide it it keeps saving the depth)
how should I stop it?

You would need to remove the Market Depth Historical Graph study. If that study is on a chart, then it saves the Market Depth data, just as if you had set the option for the symbol. This is also true even if the study is hidden.

Did you remove it from all of the charts?

the only chart I forgot to remove it from was DYH20 which never got depth data anyway. I did remove it from all cme symbols but b/c I didn't remove from a symbol which doesn't get any depth data in the first place than all the other symbols kept saving the data
this was a weird thing...
