[User Discussion] - No remote data in Trade Stats and attempting to download equity data from IB and SC not IqFeed

I am running IB trade service with SC futures data, SC Forex data, IB Forex data, and IqFeed equities data. If I open the IB instance, find an equity in the IqFeed Instance and open a new chart, then I see data in the chart. If I open the Orders and Positions, I see positions for the symbol but the columns are all zero.
If I open an existing chartbook with several charts for the same symbol, I get "Downloading Historical Data..." overlaid on all the charts even though the charts are displaying and updating. The log has thousands of messages about IB Backfill as if it is trying to get the data from IB rather than the remote IqFeed. At other times I see messages that say that the SC realtime feed does not recognize the equity symbol (this is the case even though the chart shows (R) for the IqFeed and is updating correctly..

This may be related to a previous thread (4637) where the SC response claimed that there is no intention to fully support use of data from multiple instances, in direct contradiction to the documentation in "Using Multiple Services or Multiple Trading Accounts". In addition to not working in QuoteBoards or ASCIL, perhaps there is no intention to have remote data work in the Orders and Position window?

If so, I really hope that someone will explain how one is supposed to trade effectively using a separate trade service and data from a remote instance. Is there any solution to the problem of SC getting confused and trying to get equity data from IB and SC when the only equity data I have is from IqFeed.

OK, what is the question? Are you referring to the Positions tab? What you see comes from Interactive Brokers. You should ask them about the data there.

If I open an existing chartbook with several charts for the same symbol, I get "Downloading Historical Data..." overlaid on all the charts even though the charts are displaying and updating.
This will only happen with charts that are not using data from a remote copy of Sierra Chart. We have verified this.

Support for remote copies of Sierra Chart is planned for ACSIL. We did indicate that previously. There is no need to say anything more about this. And there are no plans for a Quote Boards to access data from another instance.

SC getting confused and trying to get equity data from IB and SC when the only equity data I have is from IqFeed.
Clearly you are intelligent enough to know that Sierra Chart is not getting confused here. We to not understand why you are saying this. Please explain how Sierra Chart is getting confused. Unless you specifically open a stock symbol from remote copy of Sierra Chart, the data is going to come from Interactive Brokers if the chart is opened within the Interactive Brokers instance. All of this works very reliably. We really do not have time to discuss this. We know there is no problem here.

Mine was a poorly worded problem and I apologize. I have no intention of wasting your time. You have a great product and I only want to learn how to use it and help you identify problems and improve it. I gave the additonal information and thoughts because I thought it might be useful but it seems only to have confused the issue.

The specific problem was that there was no P&L data in the Trade Stats for Charts of the Orders and Positions window.

The reason I used the unfortunate phrase "SC getting confused", because I was getting messages in the log about problems downloading from IB even though I have no data from IB and am just using it as a trade service. When I open the specific chartbook in question, I get a chart window with the [R] that is updating correctly with equity data from the IqFeed. Plastered on the chart is a yellow label that says "Downloading Historical Data. Bars may not appear until complete.". This message stays for ever and the log is filled with messages about IB Backfill and IB Error Codes. I added this information because I thought it might be relevant to why the P&L data was not getting updated.

There is an easy work around which solves the problem, so as far as I am concerned we can consider this support request closed. The solution to the problem is to open a new chartbook and recreate the chart. I do not have the same issues with a newly created chartbook. (I do not know what the problem with the one chartbook is and am happy to erase it and move on if the problem is uninteresting to you. I can assure you that one way or the other, as reliable as it is, that I have a chart that updates correctly from a remote IqFeed instance but is giving error messages from IB and a yellow warning box that does not go away.)
