HI,
I was wondering if you could elaborate a little more about your direct routing that is to come in the near future but I am also hoping and
recommending that you do not get direct routing and then stick us with the "CONVENIENCE gateway" instead of the MARKET SEGMENT GATEWAY which cuts the line and puts you rihgt at the matching engine of say the EMINI sp500 otherwise you go to the BOTTLENECK which is the CONVENIENCE gateway.
Have you guys considered this or are you?

Market Segment Gateways
Overview

CME Gateway 7.17.35 and higher supports connections to the CME Group’s Market Segment Gateways, which are the Exchange’s iLink gateways dedicated to all products on a particular matching engine instance or “market segment”.

The exchange is making access to the Market Segment Gateways available in two phases. This topic supports Phase I, which provides a single iLink gateway dedicated to TAS (trade at settlement) products.

In order to connect your CME Gateway to the Market Segment Gateways, you need the following:

An upgrade to CME Gateway 7.17.35 or higher
Market Segment Gateway (MSGW) iLink credentials from the exchange
The CME-MSGWs.cfg file
An MSGW iLink order session configured in HostInfo.cfg

The Convenience Gateway only adds 100 µs. That is what we are using.

We do not think this is going to matter for 99.9% of our users. We have a very good in-depth understanding of everything. There is nothing wrong with the convenience gateway.

And if there really is some bottleneck with the convenience gateway, the CME must resolve that. For the CME then to have the market segment gateways, is not a proper solution. There should not be any bottleneck with the convenience gateway. That does not make any sense and the CME says that it only adds 100 µs. All they need to do is look at the market segment specified with the order and route it appropriately. That does not take anything more than a couple of microseconds. So something is wrong fundamentally on the CME side if there is an issue. From an engineering perspective, none of this makes any sense to us for them to be complicating things to the extent they are.

Anyway we are not going to say anything further at this point in time, this is the absolute least of our concerns at this point of time with the CME order routing. There are fundamentally much much bigger things that have to concern us.

They complicate things on purpose so there is a TRUE TIME difference for the customers of the CME that do 70 % of the volume which is HFT and they have TRUE DMA right to the messaging gateways for over 100k a year. But if you need to layer the book based on the orders resting on the convenience gate way for 2-3 milliseconds and since those orders were sent and have regsiterd at the CLOB then they are valid orders to the public book. This is what separates TRUE DMA HFT from non DMA convenience gateway.
That is all the time they need to set up the book before those orders gett thru the convenience gateway. At that point they know the orders and set up the book to fill them advantageously and this of course is why the CME does this and make no mistake about it. THE CME could care less about retail having a level playing field.

You are correct though that 99 % wont need it. interestingly enough though the lag the CME tells you could be an average or a median or even be for certain times throughout the day. Who knows the true latency is the cme and when thigns get really busy and HFT is purposefully jamming orders INTO THE convenience gateway to slow it down while setting up orders thru the messaging gateways to just COLLECT MONEY! or the spread. yeah the CME has serious problems that will not be fixed anytime soon that is for sure since they are SELF REGULATING to make money for shareholders.

thanks for the fast response and I am looking forward to using the new service when you get going
