Dear support,

I apologize, I am not able to make it short, as requested.

I am backtesting my setup based on the use of 3 Line Break (3LB) study but I found a non-standard behaviour.
Setup: I am using Study Price/Overlay to overlay 3LB from a different time frame to main chart with the following definition:
Match source destination bars: NO
Data copy mode: Use Earliest value from Correspondoing TF
Bar time matching method: Containing match
In column K of the spreadsheet I have the following simple condition: =AND(id1.sg4@3>id1.sg1@3,id0.sg4@3>id0.sg1@3) – place buy order anytime 3LB bar is closed and is up and the bar on my main chart is closed and is up. Arrows for entries on the main chart are properly placed. So far so good.
However, when replaying charts, orders are only placed in two cases 1) after reversal bar on 3LB or 2) when on the main chart preceding bar on line 4 is a reversal bar. In all other cases the orders are not place, although the conditions are met.

For example, I have series of down bars on 3LB chart and suddenly I have a green reversal bar AND I have a green up bar on the main chart – conditions are met, the order is placed and later on target is hit. 3LB chart continues to show series of green up bars, the main chart as well, the conditions are met but no orders are placed. Suddenly there is a down, reversal bar, on the main chart and next bar is up to the trend again – orders are placed.
Is it a normal behaviour or am I missing something in the setup? I want to place orders anytime conditions in column K are met, not only after reversal bars on 3LPB or the main chart.

Thank you,
Roman

PS I would be easier to have Three Line break chart in Chart setting menu under Bar Period Type menu than having it as Study (for which I am grateful anyway). Does SC consider it in future?

When referencing overlaid studies from another timeframe, there will sometimes be signals that occur late, or occur then disappear. This is an unavoidable anomaly for which there is no solution, regardless of the settings in the Study/Price Overlay study. I suspect this is what you are experiencing.

Arrows after the fact will be accurate, but realtime signals will occasionally not coincide.

tomgilb, that's why I initialized it:
Study Summary Window - Follow 'date focus' charts

and to some extent it solves this anomaly ....
