Hi Sierra Chart team,

I have been replaying, very successfully, a lot of charts in Sierra Chart. As an example I replayed today a 1 Minute chart from the 30.09.2019 until today without a problem. I was even replaying at speed 3840 without any problems.

I wanted to test my study for a longer period of time so I decided to go back to the 3rd yearly quarter and start testing from July 1st, 2019. As soon as I start replaying on July 1st, 2019, at low speeds like 60, I can notice a considerable increase in CPU usage not even seen when I was replaying October 2019 at speed 3840.

If I try to increase the speed to 120 or 240 the CPU load increases considerably and Sierra Chart starts lagging in its attempt to replay.

I am using "Calculate at every tick" option on a minute chart. As explained, this problem did not happen while replaying october.

Why was everything working fine even at super high speeds but if I go back to replay from July 2019 the computer really gets loaded up and starts lagging?

Thanks for your help.
Ernesto

This absolutely can be true when you there is a calculation at every tick. We would absolutely expect that to be noticed especially with an accelerated replay. This is perfectly normal. If you do not notice it at times, it just has to do with less trades being processed.

Thanks for your prompt response, but I think I did not make myself clear.

Yesterday I was back-testing while replaying starting on October 1st without a single problem or delay at low and high speeds. Every tick would be calculated.

Then, I decided to go back a bit further and start backtesting from the 1st of July. However, while doing exactly the same tests the chart would really lag this time, even at low speeds.

So, why, if I am doing exactly the same calculations, the replay would only work flawlessly from October forward but not from July on?

Shouldn't the replay play at the same speed regardless of when did it start?

I hope I explained myself a little better this time.
Thanks again

Dear Sierra Chart team,

Even as I am writing this post I realize the solution was kind of obvious. I still felt the need to let you know.

So, I removed ALL studies from the chart and just left the ONE study that I wanted to test. Then I went back to the desired date, replayed and retested without any lag or problems.

It seems one of the studies I had loaded into the chart was making the chart to run slowly.

So thanks again for your response.
