[User Discussion] - Invalid chartbook files?

Today has been a bad technology day. This morning first thing, my Windows machine would not boot. Couldn't access or restore Windows at all, by any means (I spent all day trying). I finally gave up and re-installed Windows 10, but I installed it to my secondary hard drive, leaving the previous boot drive untouched (other than the various Windows repair attempts that did nothing helpful).

The old boot drive is not readable in Windows, but a file recovery utility was easily able to see everything that was on it. I thought I was home free since all of my chartbooks and everything else are all there. I recovered them to my new boot drive, and some of them open just fine. Some don't, giving me "The Chartbook file is not a valid Chartbook" errors.

I also tried to restore my cfg file, but that just gives me an invalid configuration file error on launch.

Does anyone have any idea how to get these to work again? I would really rather not have to re-create these from scratch again, and I have no other backups of my recent work (I know, I know... I only set up this machine a couple of weeks ago and hadn't set up my offsite backups yet.)

Those are what I have been opening. Most (not all) of them are also corrupt (or whatever this problem is). I have found some that will open but not my absolute most recent versions, so I am still losing some work. I also found a backup copy of the cfg file that did load correctly so at least I got that back.

Yes I know, but they were mostly corrupt too. I went through all of them though and eventually found one that worked. Thankfully the cfg file doesn't change as often as the cht files.
