New to Sierra Chart. I am using a custom DTC DLL to request historical data. I'm playing with $SPX data. I don't have any charts on the screen, but I see large $SPX.scid files in the Data folder. I noticed the first request takes a while to download, but the second request is fast. I suspect SC is using he $SPX.scid file as a cache or some sort?

I want to clear out the download and start from scratch, but Edit->Delete All Data and Download is grayed out.

What's going on?

Thanks.

Yes, the data is always going to be served from what is in these Intraday data files and if data needs to be downloaded into that file first it will be.

That particular command only applies when there is a chart open. So you have to open a chart for the symbol you want to re-download data for.

Thanks. So in the case of changing to/from dividend adjusted prices, I have to manually delete the corresponding cache files in the Data folder - correct?

You could but you can also just re-download the data:

Re-download all the data in the chart by going to the chart and selecting "Edit >> Delete All Data and Download". You just need to do this once per symbol and not for each chart.

Just to confirm my understanding

If I am using DTC client only and no on-screen charts, if I change the selection of the box "Download Dividend Adjusted Historical Price", the next DTC data request will automatically delete the historical data file for that symbol in the Data folder, and replace it with the correct dividend adjusted/or unadjusted historical data (based on the checkbox selection)?

No that is not correct.

You would need to open a chart for the symbol that you want to download the data for and then select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download.

Hi SC Engineering,

I am learning about deleting old chart data in SC as I'm seeing SC is taking up a lot of storage on my PC. Within 5 months of usage, SC has already taken up about 45 gbs worth of storage.

Could you please let me know what files I should not delete if I want to keep my merged TPOs chart data intact on my charts?

Thank you in advance.

The TPOs themselves are calculated items and not stored. So as long as the underlying data for those charts is there, the TPOs will be calculated.
