Hello, currently I use Sierra with IB, they will start a zero-commission rate plan this month. Will I be able to connect Sierra to this new platform at some point in the future?

https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=45196

The above link near the end of the page displays a box that says IBKR Lite or IBKR Pro and selecting the Compare Plans button shows the differences.

The new zero-commission platform has a Client Portal but not Trader Workstation (TWS).

Also, do you currently connect to any broker that offers zero commissions, one that I tried was Firstrade but could not continue because I need Sierra to be able to trade.

Edit:

Just noticed that Ameritrade will be going to zero commissions as well which is one of the brokers you work with. From their site it looks like it will be the same platform they currently use and not an online portal. This is really great news, I would switch to Ameritrade from IB if Sierra was able to connect to them.

Edit 2:

I just found your message regarding the discontinuation of Ameritrade with Sierra but I noticed on the IB website that they have an API that connects to their Client Portal which is the platform that will offer the zero commissions.

From their site:
REST API
FIX CTCI
WT Web API

That's what I currently use, but I was wondering if you had any plans in the future to connect to the new IB zero commission platform that will be through their online portal? They have APIs to that platform as well, at least that’s the impression I got when I read through their site.

There's no chance in hell we will support another Interactive Brokers API. Why would they be creating something different? No chance in a billion years. Never going to happen. And we are speaking far far far far far to politely here. We are just too polite. Just like we are too polite with the way that we talk about the god damn CME market data rules. Just too polite.

To User 390455:

Hi, thanks for the information, I don't know anything about APIs I was just posting what I found to show that maybe there was a way to connect to their zero-commission platform.

To Sierra Chart Engineering:

You’re being a little vague, are you saying you might support it in the future? Just kidding. : )

I had no idea you would have such intense feelings about IB APIs.

Since Ameritrade and Schwab have gone to zero commissions it might just be a matter of time before Interactive Brokers realizes they will have to change to zero commission on their regular TWS platform.

Anyways, didn’t mean to upset you, I love your Sierra program, it’s by far the best trading platform I’ve ever found.
