Spreadsheet Problem

The formulas I enter in column Z keep getting wiped out every time I close and save.

I have opened backup spreadsheets and the formulas are intact, but even if I open a backup chartbook, the formulas get wiped.

I did not change any settings so it is still 16 formula columns and 0 blank columns before first study.

Tried moving and renaming backup spreadsheet files, same thing happens.

Everything worked fine yesterday so I'm at a loss as to how to proceed.

Appreciate your help on this one.

I've tried writing formulas in other columns, they too get wiped out when I save and exit.

When I migrated to the new spreadsheets, I set the Chart Data Output Specification Type to "By Name", and the Formula Source Sheet Number I set manually to match the Chart Number, as there is no option to select By Name.

These Settings are still unchanged from before, but it is behaving as indicated in the documentation titled Formulas Getting Erased.

One thing I've just noticed which might help pinpoint the problem, the software has created a full set of numbered sheets, which do not exist on the backup copy of the spreadsheet. Deleting them does not make them go away, they are re-created automatically. As these sheets have no formulas on them, it might explain why they get erased on the designated sheet.

I have managed to resolve this.

When I created the spreadsheet, I worked through the chart tabs from L to R, numbering the sheets sequentially.

On 28th I updated from v1941 to v1978 and in the process all formula source sheet numbers defaulted to the chart number, and an equivalent number of Sheet#s were created as formula source sheets.

I've changed "Always Set Formula Source Sheet Number to Output Sheet Number" from Yes to No, and created the required formula source sheets. This has allowed me to delete the extraneous Sheet#s.
