Having an issue placing STOP orders with the new feed/ORS.

On a chart with an attached trade window and chart trading DOM enabled, I set the order type to STOP on the trade window, then click the desired stop price on the trading DOM, intending to place a STOP order at that price. This worked on the same trading account with the CQG feed. As soon as I do this, the order type changes from STOP to LIMIT on its own! I did get a dialog box confirming I wanted to place the trade, and if you read carefully (I didn't the first time) you could notice that the order type was not as desired. If you don't catch it, you wind up with a Limit order that is filled instantly.

Tried it again entering the STOP order by manually setting the stop price in the trade window, and that worked. So the problem is not that the feed won't accept STOP orders. Just seems to switch order type to LIMIT without warning when you try and use the DOM to place a STOP.

Also having a really weird problem with AddAdditionalSymbol studies misbehaving with the new feed. Will post a separate support ticket for that.

Thanks!

In regards to stop orders becoming stop limit orders, refer to:
Order Types: Stop Orders on the CME

It is necessary to set the Price Multiplier Input with this study since the price format used by TT is the unadjusted format which is the same as the exchange. So for example for ES futures you would need to set the Multiplier to .01.

Hi,

Thanks, but the documentation referenced is not relevant to what I reported. I am aware of policy relating to Stop being changed to stop-limit, but that wasn't the situation I reported.

When I try and place a STOP order using the attached trading window (filling in all the boxes manually), the order is accepted and placed. I understand that CME converts it to stop-limit, but that is not germane to the issue at hand.

The problem is that on the new ORS/TT Fix connection, when I place the order by clicking a price on the chart DOM, the order type is changed to LIMIT (not Stop-limit), and what was supposed to be a buy-stop order well above the market executed immediately, resulting in an undesired position that had to be closed. This has nothing to do with stop vs. stop limit. The question is why does SC allow me to place a stop order (which CME converts to stop-limit) by clicking a price on the chart DOM if I'm using CQG for order routing, but when I try the same thing on the Denali Feed/ORS TT Fix connection, the wrong order type is placed resulting in an undesired execution.

Thanks in advance,
Erik

You need to set the Chart DOM order configuration as you require. There must be a difference between the two installations of Sierra Chart with the configuration.

We did change the defaults about a year ago. Refer to:
Global Trade Settings Windows: Chart DOM Settings

This is why it is always important to have order confirmations enabled at least at first, so you can verify the order type.
