Can I use the same data feed I use for ninjatrader to run Sierra charts? If not how do I get data to run Sierra charts?

Yes you can. Are you using CQG or Rithmic with ninja trader?

You could but I think the SierraChart datafeed is better and is specifically designed to work with the platform. I use NinjaTrader for brokerage on some smaller accounts because their commissions are competitive (I bought the lifetime license for NinjaTrader many years ago so it is a sunk cost at this point; where I now get their best commission rates). They know I use SierraChart for charting and order execution (they might privately huff about it ...they've certainly "huffed" about the new TT trading service from SierraChart... but business is business). Their brokerage arm were pretty helpful in setting it up. CQG FIX for trading. If you want to use the CQG datafeed you could. Or you could tell NinjaTrader you don't want the CQG feed and choose Sierra's instead.

I am using Ninjatrader CQG? I'm unclear on the packages. I was going to get the $36 a month version. It looks like I can pay extra for a sierra data feed.

I don't know what you're subscribed to. You should know. NinjaTrader refers to CQG as "Continuum" which has a trading connection called FIX ($0.10 per side fee) and a 'free' datafeed that requires a subscription to the exchanges. If you are a NinjaTrader customer who bought their software outright then you will get their lowest commission rate and presumably you already have a trading account with one of the FCMs that they use (e.g. Dorman). Once you've bought their software you don't have to use it. You could just use NinjaTrader as a broker and use SierraChart instead. You can choose to use SierraChart with the "Continuum" (CQG) datafeed or you could only use the CQG FIX connection if you prefer the SierraChart datafeed.

In response to post #4, therefore follow these set up instructions:
CQG Trading Platform Service: Setup Instructions

You can use the CQG data feed. That will be fine.
