Numbers Bars - Bold Last Trade Price - Bid vs Ask

Hi, in Numbers Bars I have Bold Last Trade Price set to Yes. Regardless of whether the last trade was at the bid or ask, it is always just the bid volume which is bold and never the ask. I find this confusing when the trades are at the ask and my eye is drawn to the bold unchanging bid volume whereas it's the changing ask volume I want to be bold and drawn to. Is it possible to change that behavior?

We have corrected this so that both Bid and Ask will be Bold when at the Last Trade price. This will occur regardless of the setting for the Bid/Ask Bold Threshold (i.e. the Bold Last Trade Price takes precedence over Bid/Ask Bold Threshold).

This will be in the next Pre-Release (v 1883). When available, you can use the Fast Update. The documentation for this is here:

I just saw the new version, I'm sorry maybe I wasn't clear but it's not what I wanted. I liked the way it was before when for bid trades it was just the bid volume which was bold and not the ask volume. I wanted to keep that and change the ask trades to have ask volume bold and bid volume not bold. That way it would be very clear whether trades are occurring at the bid or ask. Of course when the bid/ask is not changing and trades are just bouncing between them then it's clear, but once price starts to move it's not always obvious whether the trades are at the bid or ask and you have to look at the order board to try figure it out, which is cumbersome. The new solution does not address this problem, because both bid and ask volume are now both bold so you still can't distinguish between bid trades and ask trades from the numbers bar alone (unless you actually see the volume number changing, which is not always possible, so having a record of last trade at bid or ask in the form of bold bid or ask volume would be very helpful). Is it clear?

We will look into how easy this will be to accomplish. Depending on the complexity, it may take us awhile to get to it.

In addition to the option to bold the recent price level would it be possible to add separate color background settings for the bid and ask columns to highlight the background at the last recently traded price level at the bid and ask? This would be similar to the color highlight settings for the Last Traded Recent bid/ask volume Background on the Chart and Trade DOM that highlights the last trade at the bid AND last trade at the ask.

We have implemented a change to have the Bid or Ask bold when the option for Bold Last Trade Price is set to Yes and the Numbers Bars Text is set to either Bid Vol x Ask Vol or Ask Vol Bid Vol Difference Diagonal. The choice of Bid or Ask is dependent on whether the Bid or the Ask is at the current price.

This change will be available in the next release - v 1910.

With respect to Post #7, this is not something that can be easily done within the numbers bars currently (in other words, we will not making that change any time soon). There are some things we are considering changing that would make something like what you ask possible, but we do not have any idea when we would be getting to that work.

Adding this was a great addition... though bold font isn't very clear on many charts settings - making it hard to notice in many cases.

Is it possible to add the ability to choose to highlight the last traded price(bid or ask only) based on bold OR different background color? (or any other way which will make it more noticeable)

Thanks

We are thinking of some additional changes to the Numbers Bars to allow for the kinds of things requested in these last few posts. But as we have stated, we cannot give any timelines as to when we would get to the work.

Per post #10 something simple like having it in bold plus a font size one bigger than the other numbers would help immensely.

This, or anything else which will be simple for you to implement asap.

It doesn't need to include both last bid and last ask as per post #7. Just simply having it the way it function now(last trade price only - i.e. bid OR ask), but having it bold plus bigger font or different font color or different background color etc.

Now that the recent bid/ask volume is working so well it would be great to have post #14 implemented to complete this perspective of price action

We have added the ability to highlight the last trade in the last bar in the Numbers Bars study. The Input that was named Bold Last Trade Price has been renamed to be Bold/Highlight Last Trade Price and allows options for None, Bold Only, Highlight Only, and Bold and Highlight.

There are 2 additional Inputs to control the color of the background highlighting depending on whether the trade is at the Bid or the Ask.

This works in the same way as the Bold Last Trade Price functioned, where if the Bid and Ask are displayed separately, then only the one side gets highlighted in the particular color.

This will be out in Pre-Release 2159.

There was a post stating that the Numbers Bars Bid/Ask Highlight Coloring was the not the same as what was seen in the DOM for Last Size. We can not find that original post, so we are posting this here.

We have fixed this, so now when highlighting the Last Price in the Numbers Bars it is the same coloring as what would be seen in the Last Size in the DOM. Except that the option to color the background a different color when it is the same trade and price is not available in the Numbers Bars.
