I set up SMS alerts. I addeded my number as +1 xxx xxx xxxx to the global settings - general settings - alerts/general 3

When it crosses the set alert, I hear a ding on my computer but there isn't a text message sent. I added extra credits to my account as well.

If you are not getting them, then verify the phone number is correct and it is certainly correct to be using a +1 in front of it. If you still have a problem start an account support ticket and tell us the SMS number you are using:
