bug report: orders disappear when changing bar period

I haven't tried this on live but at least on sim, when you turn on 'cancel orders on flat position' from the trade window and you currently have a position on with other pending orders, when you switch between different bar periods, Sierra Chart will, for some reason, execute 'cancel orders on flat position' and cancel all pending orders. The original position you put on still remains. I looked on Trade Activity Log to see why my pending orders were disappearing and the OrderActionSource states 'Canceling orders on flat position' so that's how I found out what it was doing. |

We are checking on this today. This feature has always concerned us when it was added in response to a user request and that is why previously it was never a saved option.

Alright so I installed SC 1857 and after testing, it has improved greatly. Previously, switching the bar period merely once or twice would cancel all pending orders. Now, it usually takes around 10 or more bar period switches before 'Canceling orders on flat position' is erroneously initiated by SC. Sometimes, orders are canceled after only 1-2 bar period switches. But most of the time, it won't cancel all pending orders until more than 10 bar period switches. Conclusion is that you guys managed to reduce the incidence of the bug but the root cause, whatever it is, is still there. If, like you guys said, this only affect SIM and not LIVE, honestly this is not a major problem and since you guys are busy working on much more important stuff, I'd rather you guys spend development time on the more important stuff. My hunch is that the 'Cancel Orders on Flat Position' function from the Trade Window is complex and more complicated than it would seem at the outset. Thanks for the help. |

The problem should be resolved in 1858. Nothing was done with this in 1857. Use 1858.
