Missing daily silver data using Interactive Brokers feed

Hi, I was using IB feed and my silver daily chart had a 1y gap. I tried all the fixes (updating symbols, deleting/redownloading data, deleting files) but didn't work. Then I tried connecting to SC feed and then redownloading the data did work. Is that the way it's supposed to work? I think I remember if you are using external data provider then it's just for the most recent intraday data and still uses SC for historical daily data, so maybe it's right you need to connect to SC data to fix any missing data?
