Trendlines as Studies?

I see that SC has created a study for horizontal lines. & it allows me to manually place levels at my choosing. An excellent addition for automation.

However, I do not see anything about creating trendline studies.
I think this would be a major advantage, which would allow me to place automated trades when the price crosses the trendline study.

I think it would be excellent if the study was included as a drawing tool, but that might be complicated. I do not wish to make things harder than need be.
So it would also be fine with me, if I had to manually enter in the X coor, Y coor.

Again, I really think this would help SC stand out, and I would love it if SC included this study.
Thank you guys for all you've done. Have a nice Thanks-Giving!

We did not realize so much time went by, but what we are doing is enhancing this functionality:
Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning: Referencing Chart Drawings

The enhancement will allow the ability to access the value of a chart drawing at any bar index which normally would be the Index of the last bar in the chart. So it is more practical to reference a drawing within Alert Condition Formulas.

Also this new ACSIL function is being added:
int32_t sc.GetYValueForChartDrawingAtBarIndex(const int32_t ChartNumber, const int32_t IsUserDrawn, const int32_t LineNumber, const int32_t LineIndex, const int32_t BarIndex1, int32_t BarIndex2, float& YValue1, float& YValue2);

Dear Sierra Chart Team,

I tried hard to understand how to use the function sc.GetYValueForChartDrawingAtBarIndex(), however, I still do not fully understand it. Could you please provide a short example. Specifically, how to obtain the Y value of a chart drawing at a certain bar index.

Thanks a lot!

Dear SC Team,

Any chance you can soon provide a minimal example for the function sc.GetYValueForChartDrawingAtBarIndex()? Thanks a lot!

Sad to say, but its been almost 2 years since post 5 was written. So its a good bet that a fully working example will never happen.

Would be great to simply give each drawn line a study ID so it can be used in an alert formula.

I really hope that SC will soon provide a small example, otherwise, introducing this (not self-explaining) function to the user community is not so meaningful because probably not many people (if any) can actually use it which is sad considering the time investment and effort put into its development by SC.

Thanks SC in advance.

Dear SC Team,

We would appreciate if you could provide a simple example of GetYValueForChartDrawingAtBarIndex() or at least a detailed description of parameters.

Thanks in advance.

You are wasting your time and energy by expecting an example to ever be provided.
The function probably doesn't even work.

If they did provide a working example, that would mean they would have to also provide a working function.

Well, there is hope. I would argue that the function, if exists, provides very important functionality that's currently missing in SC. After all the team put a lot of effort to develop drawing functions but what's the point of being able to draw something programmatically if there is no way to reference the drawn object in the code? Hopefully the function does work and it's just a matter of documenting/writing an example.

Ok, SC team, can you answer the question: does sc.GetYValueForChartDrawingAtBarIndex() work? Yes or no? It's a simple question, is it too much to ask?
