Hello,

I am a very happy user of Sierra Chart with CQG data (CQG FIX). For me, this is the best platform/data combo I have ever used. Excellent speed and reliability, I like it even more than TT.

But now I want to switch the majority of my trading to another broker/FCM, and they told me that they would connect me to Sierra Chart with the CQG Web API.

So now my question is, with CQG Web API instead of CQG FIX in Sierra Chart, can I expect the same flawless speed and performance like I have now with CQG FIX ? I scalp extremely shortterm (seconds) mostly in NQ, ES and FDAX, so very fast markets, and therefore I need an excellent feed and execution.

Thank you !

That is good. And good you are not affected by this:

There is no reason why they cannot set you up to use CQG FIX and if you are having good performance with that, we strongly recommend staying with CQG FIX.

Well, the broker says the following:

Sierra Chart would connect directly to the CQG WebAPI as opposed to the Tradovate API. So with this setup, the latency would be the same regardless of which broker you use since all will be set up the same way (routing orders via CQG and receiving data through CQG). Per CQG, their FIX connection is only for order routing so market data would always come via the Web-API.

There would be a $15/month CQG connection fee and a $0.15/side CQG order routing fee. This would be for the CQG Web-API connection. If you wish to have the CQG FIX enabled (for order routing) there would be an additional CQG connection and therefore another $15/month. All our Sierra Chart users get all their data and route all orders via the Web-API.

I do not really understand this. In my old setup, I had only CQG FIX (thats at least what I think: In Data/Trade Service Settings I selected "Service: CQG FIX Trading (trading)" ... and that was it).
How could I select both, CQG FIX and CQG Web API at the same time ? I can only select one service in Data/Trade Service Settings: Service .

Can you bring some light into this ? Maybe I understand something wrong ?

Thank you very much in advance !

Actually it is true that when using CQG FIX if you are not using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed, the market data does come through CQG WebAPI in the background. We were not thinking about this when you mentioned CQG FIX. We were just concentrating on the order routing part.

So you could just use the CQG Web API on its own and not bother with the CQG FIX. This will work. If the connection has been stable that will be fine to use.

Ok, I think I understand now.

So in "Global Settings --> Data/Trade Service Settings", when under "Service Setting" at "Connect To Market Data Server" I select "TRUE", even when using CQG FIX, the market data will still come from CQG WebAPI ? So all the data that I see jumping around on my charts and DOMs will be from CQG WebAPI ?

If that is the case, then changing in "Data/Trade Service Settings" from "Service: CQG FIX Trading" to "Service: CQG WebAPI Trading" will bring no change at all to the quality of the data in my charts and DOMs in Sierra Chart ? It will just be the same, right ?

Thank you again for your support !
