Due to the change from a single digit year in the symbols to a two digit year, this has caused a problem where the Trade Position is not being reported and displayed in charts and Trading DOMs

However, you will still see them in Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Positions.

You should always look at that tab to see your current Positions and also be conscious of what positions you have and also check your Positions in the Gain Capital trading software. There is never an excuse to not be aware of Positions you have. This is your responsibility.

We originally thought this was an issue on the Gain Capital side because the symbol is transmitted with a Position report and in most cases just processed as is.

This is how it is done with all other services.

During the process of looking into this, we discovered that in the case of Gain Capital, that the symbol has to be constructed from fields in the Position report and was being constructed using a single digit year. This has now been resolved in the latest revision of prerelease 1827 and prerelease 1828 coming out.

We now have learned from Gain Capital the following:

Our two-digit year only affected our front-end platform and those who are using latest .NET API version, not for FIX users. This is why we did not send notice to you.

The issue for real-time data at Sunday open was another issue, due to a faulty build of new FIX price server. We rebuilt with correct version and reset FIX servers at 10:13 pm ET. Then, market data requests from your user seem to be successful. Sorry for the confusion.

So the issue with not receiving market data this past Sunday evening was not due to the conversion from a single digit year to two digit year in the symbols. Their FIX server was not affected by this and in our past experience, it can handle two digit years anyway. At least for market data.

In regards to trading, our prior experience with using two digit year symbols with the Trading related FIX messages had issues but it might just have been related to the position reporting issue which is described in the prior post.

In any case, there has been a transition now to two digit years in Sierra Chart when using Gain Capital so we are just going to stay with this. We are not aware of any other outstanding issues.

Version 1829 has been released and it has the following:

For Gain Capital users, the stored Trade Activity data will have the symbols converted to a single digit year to a two digit year upon running 1829.

The command Chart >> Update Chart Drawings to Symbol, for a chart will also update symbols with a single digit year.

We are not aware at this time of any other outstanding items. If you have any issues let us know.

And one thing we want to point out, some of you had an experienced trading related issues where you are not seeing your current Position or previously entered open orders in a chart, when updating the symbols to two digit years. We do apologize for this, but we were just reacting to the situation and getting changes and user instructions out as quickly as we could to get the market data working.

However, at all times the open orders and positions were always displayed in the Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions window. Always check that window for reference and always check the OEC Trader software as well. You have the ability from that window to cancel orders and also to flatten positions.
