trying to test an automated trading system, put it in chart replay mode and have it in simulated mode, but trades are not showing up on trade activity log. Orders are being automated by spreadsheet system for trading. Does one have to have send orders to trade service to have them so up on activity log.

Most likely you did not set the controls at the top of the Trade Activity Log correctly:

Also, update to the very latest prerelease to see the full order activity when back testing.
