Corrected a recent issue related to the Dot line style where the appearance was not as expected. In reality though the particular actual styling which was wanted and which was previously used is called Alternate by the Windows operating system. What was happening is that the actual true Dot style was being used but that was not the desired appearance.

All lines on chart are in dot style but look like dash style

I can confirm this. Ever since an update from – I think – end of August the dot style no longer show dots but tiny dashes.

This is not detrimental performance issue. If I want a dot then I want a dot not a dash.

If you don't have a dot don't offer style option dot.

Also you can have all chart backrounds back ( Ford model T color black ).
No need for RGB color model and 52,215,65 choices.

All you need is one color from performance stand point.

Now worries I can trade with mini dash lines.

Would be best to contact Microsoft about this because what you see is what they call a Dot.

Anyway in the next release we are going to add the Alternate style and we have determined that there was no detrimental performance impact with the prior Dot style with a width of 1. However, with any higher width, it is very detrimental performance wise.

Hi will these performance issues from using wider dots etc be irrelevant when sierra moves to opengl?

We need to ask the developer who is working on this. Not sure about this at the moment because we do not know whether OpenGL can even render that type of style.

OpenGL cannot do this type of line style, but from what we understand we can have the GPU handle this. So the answer is yes but we have to see the extent of the performance improvement.

Okay thanks. Also please ask if transparency can be offloaded to GPU and if it will improve performance.

Is the development going well wrt OpenGl btw? Any idea on timeframes?

Thanks

Yes transparency absolutely will be handled by the GPU. And the development is going fine. As far as the timeframe we are not sure at this point.

Could you add the Alternate style in Graphics Settings > Chart Grid.

Dot is too big in Chart Grid.

Thanks

Version 1825 :

Graphics Settings > Chart Grid - If I select Alternate, no any grid lines displayed.
