Hi,

I'd like to transfer the VbP profile that I have on my main chart to another chart however this does not seem to work.

I have read that this may not be possible but given that this is such a key component for many traders, is there no work-around or way of doing this?

Thanks,

Talai

No, this is not supported. We really do not know why you would want to do this. Just add the Volume by Price study on the chart where you want it.

The only thing I can think of (don't know if you tried it), though I am not sure it is what you want or if it will work would be to go into the settings of the VbP of the main chart and at the bottom of the settings window check the box Save these settings as default. Then go to the other chart and add the study. It should add the study with those settings already configured on the main chart (if I understand correctly).

The reason I want to do it is because I look at VbP based on 180 days of data however the chart that I need it on uses numbers bars and many other indicators which uses up a huge amount of data when I load up 180 days. For that reason I’d like to be able to calculate VbP using a standard chart with 180 days loaded and overlay that on a numbers bar chart with only a few days of data. My Sierrachart keeps crashing despite using multiple instances and this is not ideal. I hope there can still be a solution.

Tell me if I am wrong. Do you want to have the Numbered bars chart configured to use only a few day and the VbP study to use 180 days.

Yes that’s exactly what I am aiming for. Is that possible?

Not sure - but I have an idea. I do not know if it will work though. I would try this. Set the Numbered Bars chart to load only 3 days (or whatever time period you want). Then add the VbP study and in the settings change the setting for "Volume Graph Period Type" to "From Start Date-Time to End".

I do not know if I am thinking correctly here or not but in the Chart Settings the number of days for the Numbered Bars will be say 3 and the Start Date might reference a different database.. I am not sure and just taking a logical guess. What I would also do is change that setting of "Volume Graph Period Type" to see how it affects the chart, but start with my suggestion.

Let me know how it works I am curious.

Hi,

The issue with doing this is that I want my lookpack period for VbP to be dynamic i.e. I'd like the start date & end date to be changing constantly as time goes by. Unfortunately by specifying a start and end date in the settings it means I have fixed this time period.

Any other ideas? I wish support would make more of an effort to help rather than just saying they see no reason why anyone would need to do it.

Hi,

Regarding the solution above, unfortunately, the POC is showing on top of the candlesticks of the other chart when I overlay it - is there a way to make the POC overlay transparent or behind the candlesticks so that I can still see what I need to look at?

Thanks
