Using Study/Price Overlay With Extend Bar Value Until Further Intersection Study

Hello

On a higher level timeframe chart "A" I am using the Extend Bar Value Until Further Intersection Study with input data of HL AVG.

On a lower level timeframe chart "B" I am using the Study Price Overlay Study using the Extend Bar Value Until Further Intersection Study in chart "A". I have set to Yes the input value for ln:19 (Copy Extension Lines from Source Study).

While the extension lines are initially being drawn on chart "B" correctly, they are still being drawn past the intersection point on chart "B" after the intersection has occurred on chart "A". Manually reloading chart "B" resolves the issue.

It would be great if the extension lines would stop drawing at the intersection point in chart "B". Is there a Study/Price Overlay parameter I am overlooking that would resolve this?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Warmest Regards

Andy

We will have to look this over. But not sure how soon we can get to it.

We are not able to reproduce the particular scenario that you are stating. When we put on this same settings, the lines in Chart B are being drawn from and to the same times as the lines in Chart A. This looks a little funny, since the lines do not match up to the bars. This is as we expect it to be, as the lines do not have anything to do with the intersection in Chart B, as they are only reflecting the lines that were drawn in Chart A.

If this does not explain what you are seeing, then we would need to get the Chartbook so we can understand better what is happening. Here are instructions:

I have attached 2 files for your review. The ES Before Reload file is the view of the chart with the incorrect extension lines. The ES After Reload file is the correct view of the extension lines after the chart data was reloaded.

Can you please attach the chartbook before the reload. Follow the instructions here to do this, but keep both charts in the chartbook:

Hey John. I attached the chartbook with both charts in the chartbook. Hopefully I did this correctly. Please let me know if I need to redo it. Thanks, Andy.

Hey John. My SC version is 1785 64-bit. I can consistently reproduce the anomaly by letting the high time frame and low time frame charts run for 30 minutes or so (less if the market activity is busy). Take an image of the low time frame chart. Reload the low time frame chart (I type the time frame value in the chart and press enter to reload the chart data). Compare the before and after low time frame charts and you will see a reduction in the number of drawn extension lines. I hope this helps. Thanks, Andy.

We have now looked into this and reproduced the problem and we understand the reason for it and it will be resolved in the next release.

Also you just need to recalculate the chart with Chart >> Recalculate. There is no need to do a reload or reenter the time frame per bar.
