is it possible to align the periodicity of a second symbol (in a two symbol chart) with the periodicity of the first symbol when the first symbol is "volume per bar"? other chart packages call this "Align to Master."

I see how to add the NYSE TICK as a second symbol using Overlay (Bar) when both charts (before Overlay) are minute based charts.

My question is can the first symbol (ie: ES first symbol) be "Volume per bar" based, and the second symbol (ie: JTNT.Z which is the NYSE TICK Market Statistic symbol with IQFeed) start and stop drawing bars at same time as the ES "volume per bar" first symbol in the same chart?

Thanks, Paul

P.S. I am now a paid customer.

This can be done. You need to use the Study/Price Overlay study:

Hi, can SC or anyone help me get this right? When I try all the different possibilities/settings in Study/Price Overlay the TICK.Z (second symbol from source chart) doesn't draw accurately (aligned to ES) on the ES volume per bar based Destination Chart.

Trying to get an ES 14400 volume per bar chart aligned with the NYSE TICK (symbol TICK.Z). So that when a new ES bar starts a new TICK.Z bar starts. When each ES 14400 bar completes the TICK.Z bar completes at the same time and so on...

SC, thanks for leading me to the Study/Price Overlay, prior to your post I only noticed the Overlay studies.

What is described in post #4 is not exactly supported. In the case of a Volume per bar chart, it is not possible to have data from another chart overlaid onto it with the exact same starting and stopping time for the bars.

FWIW: Using "Global Cursor On" from the Tools menu, as many other charts and chart types as you like (including volume per bar charts) and a single separate TICK.Z chart - satisfies my original reason for this thread very nicely!

SC, this is excellent software! Well done!
