The rotation factor determines the type of day from higher highs, higher low, lower highs and lower lows of each period on the TPO charts. Is there an option to display this?

I see that you have marked this a User discussion.
The rotation factor is a pretty standard info for TPO charts, is it not possible to display this under the current structure of the TPO charts?

We have never heard of this before. If it is standard, it has never been asked for. Therefore, does not seem standard to us.

It sounds though what you are looking for can be determined just by visually looking at an ordinary bar chart. We do not see the relationship to TPO charts. Anyway, it is not something we can spend time on right now.

I would like to see this added too.

This is from James Dalton's Mind Over Markets. It is as follows:

Rotation Factor

"The Rotation Factor objectively evaluates a day’s attempted direction. Each auction rotation is measured step-by-step, allowing the trader to discern overall daily directional attempts.

The method for assigning a value to each time period’s auction rotation is relatively simple. If the high of the current time period is higher than the previous period’s high, then the rotation is given a +1. If the high is lower than the previous period’s high, then it is assigned a -1. Similarly, if a time period’s low is higher than the previous period’s low, then a value of +1 is added. An auction bottom that is lower than the previous period’s low receives a -1. And if both periods’ highs or lows come out even, then no value, or 0, is assigned. The same process is performed for each subsequent time period, ultimately resulting in a number that can provide a good indication of day timeframe sentiment.

It is important to keep in mind, however, that the Rotation Factor only answers one of the two Big Questions—that is, which way the market is trying to go. Before any conclusions can be drawn, you must also determine if the market is doing a good job in its attempts to auction in that direction."

I can make a pretty oscillator, I don't use TPO though, so that's the best I can do ;-)

Thanks. Can you make this simply accumulate over the session and reset to 0 for each session?

Hard to tell what this is doing.

This calculation is based on TPO periods (30 mins). Not sure why there's a "Period" in the settings.

Like I said, I don't use TPO charts and I have no idea how it will work on TPO charts. I did it for the heck of it based upon "regular" charts. If it doesn't suit your needs then you will need to seek someone who can code what you want.
