The color background study was overlayed from chart #3 to chart #5. They were perfectly matched. Made some changes to the background conditions in #3 and the overlay never changed in chart #5. I assumed once you made changes to chart #3 the changes would be automatically changed in chart #5.

Yes, this should be the case. If you go to Chart #5, and select Chart >> Recalculate, do you then see the change in chart #5?
