Hello,

First of all, my heartiest thanks for such a great platform you guys have made.

I have a question about continuous futures feature. Lets say if I pull up a chart for ES for symbol ESH18 (ES March expiry) and make the chart based on continuous contract feature for one year.

Now when I scroll the chart backward (using scroll bar) to lets say May of 2017, how can I see that what was the current contract on that day. or how can i see what the current contract on my cursor at the bar..If my cursor is on a bar for date May 20, 2017, how to see what was the contract for that bar. The header of chart always stay the same i.e. ESH18 (the symbol on which the chart was based). Even the Chart values window when pulled also shows ESH18.

When I put the feature “Show Rollover dates” , it does shows me the vertical line when rollover took place but symbols stay the same. Please let me know how to see what contract is being represented by a bar in a continuos futures chart. I even tried adding the study "Symbol display", but that display also stays constant and does not changes when chart is scrolled back. I have also gone through help documentation about continuous feature but could not find anything regarding this.

Best wishes & Regards.

The way to determine what you want is to look at the vertical line with the year and month at the bottom of it when using Show Rollover Dates. At that bar and up to but not including the next vertical line, is the particular contract indicated by that year and month.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I do see month and year when the "show rollover date" option is selected and I can understand that at that vertical line the rollover to next future happens (as per rollover date or volume). My question was about the "symbol" of the contract being shown at any place in chart that is currently selected by cursor.Let's say one is scrolling through the chart in area between vertical lines, is there any place where the relevant symbol of the contract being represented by selected bar is shown.

If the symbol never gets changed and one has to interpret it only through the time line of the bar selected, let me know. You might consider it as an option in future for "Symbol display " study , in my opinion.

Best wishes & Regards.

The underlying symbol remains the same, it is just that the particular contract month and year is what is changing and only those are shown when using Show Rollover Dates.
