I am getting this message repeatedly at a certain time during the day.
What does this mean?

This is an error from the operating system having a trouble with alpha blending. We recommend you do not use Transparency wherever you are in Sierra Chart. Restarting your computer usually solves this.

Hi, I'm getting the AlphaBlend returned an error message constantly, even after a reboot. How can I turn off transparency? (windows7 OS)

Thanks

The transparency has to do with transparency features used within Sierra Chart. For example, you may be using transparent Draw Styles with studies.

Or if you are using one of the Rectangle drawings, you may want to set the Fill for those drawings to be either at 0% or 100% transparency which effectively disables the use of transparency.

I have this problem back again much worse than before causing SierraChart to lock up continuously needing multiple closures of the programme. As far as I can see I have changed all my charts in this chartbook (the only one loaded) so that all drawings are 0% transparent ~ but it may be that one has crept thru as I'm still seeing error code 87. Is there a way of finding which chart is causing the problem? I've not had this issue for a long time just starting again yesterday ~ what might be the cause?

Have you tried restarting your computer?

We may just remove that message even if there is an alpha blending error. So it does not cause a problem with so many messages being added to the Message Log which causes Sierra Chart to lock up, which is apparently what is happening in your case.

Yes, I've restarted, which makes a moderate difference for a while. It may be that the message log is causing Sierra Chart to lock up, but I thought is was more that the CPU is hitting 80%+ (plus memory issues) causing the PC to grind to a halt frequently (any other app I am using locks too) (although I try to use few when I am trading).

So I am assuming the Alpha Blend issue is making the PC work very hard which is causing the performance problems I am seeing.

Thanks.

Avoid using transparency with any of the chart drawings and also studies.

I can't find any drawing objects where transparency is being used. It would be good if the log record showed which chart the error is occurring on..

It seems that I only have this problem when connected to the data feed. I have no problem when disconnected and have been able to check my charts again for an transparent drawings, without success. As soon as I connect the application locks up. Here is an extract from the log:-

You also need to check your charts for transparent Draw Styles as well.

More than likely these messages are from a study which is using transparent drawing.

Update to the latest release with Help >> Download Current Version. In the latest version, these messages should have been removed. If not, then it will be in the next release.
