hi, i'm running a sim account and when i try to purchace a buy-bid or sell-ask trade it only displays loss in the P/l not the profit? Is it the nature of the trade or I haven't activated a setting..

checked documentation but still unclear..

thanks

This is not necessarily unusual that there is not a profit if you buy and immediately sell if the bid and ask prices are the same.

oh...Plus i wanted to have my spreadsheet for trading study run all orders as ''limit chase orders'' but the only available orders that can be run are:

-market, limit orders, stop, limit-stop and market if touched in cells i71-i74

can i set it to limit chase for all automated trades?

thanks

There is a way to do this. On the Trade Window Menu:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Menu (M) button

You need to enable Orders >> Use Limit Chase Orders:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Menu >> Orders >> Use Limit Chase Orders (chart specific)

I managed to add limit chase orders but after disabling '' trade simulation mode'' and activating''send orders to trading services'' on my spreadsheet autotrader, i generated some profits on my trading service sim account, but they don't appear on the ''orders and positions'' balance..it is still showing the initial balance of 100k..

We do not provide any support for this type of question. Other than referring you to this documentation:
Trading Information Windows: Trade Account Monitor (Account Balances) Window

But just make sure that Trade >> Trade Simulation Mode On is actually disabled.

Last question: everytime I open a trade on ( 1 tick range chart) for the futures symbols (ZNMB-CBOT for example) the trade always opens 1 tick away from the current price every single time. is there an order type that can help me get a better price because it affects my scalping strategy..thanks.

You need to use a Limit order:

''Limit order'' didn't change anything. Orders placed still skip and open 1 pip away from current price everytime..

this happens when trading using the ''Spreadsheet system for trading'' study....

I noticed that 1 pip is skipped with the following periods;

1) Range per bar-standard(ticks)
2) Range per bar-true range (ticks)
3) Rage per bar-fill gaps(ticks)
4) Range per bar-open=closed (ticks)

Range per bar-New bar on range met(ticks) however is the only range per bar period that opens trades at the current price on all limit, market etc orders...

Isn't there a way to make the above listed range per bar periods open at current market price as ''new bar on range met''

thanks

You should not get a worse price than the limit price assuming you are using a limit order type. Make sure you have specified the order type and the price properly. Refer to:

hi, i have found the problem and hope the programmers can fix this,

I am using the bricks trend study on a 1 tick range per bar-open=close period and everytime the color shifts

from red-green it somehow generates 2 simultaneuos colors on every shift...

example; when its on red trend, the last red bar will change to green as the next new green bar forms generating 2 green bars.

On the back test of the spreadsheet autotrader, the results are thus based on the 1st green bar which was originally red before changing. this gives me inaccurate reuslts on backtest.

And when trading live it thus appears as if the order skips 1 (tick) bar everytime..

this is observed when using 1 tick range charts...

That is not a study developed by Sierra Chart. In any case, this is something you need to solve from your side.

The source code is in that thread. You will need to directly work with that and solve the problem.

How can I contact the programmer from the message board who made the code?

Is there a way you may help me because i spoke to several programmers and they said to contact the owner who made the code.

and I can't seem to be able t0 reply to the conversation where others were suggesting issues with the study and he'd reply

with the necessary fixes.

You cannot contact them. That makes no sense. That thread is at least seven years old. You have to drop that current approach altogether.

We recommend that you determine what you need, and start fresh with a new study to meet your requirements.

hi,

I would like to know if the Volatility Trend Indicator could have a script done to indicate on the spreadsheet the change in color of subgraph (Volatility trend SG 1) in the form of (0) for red and (1) for green as I will be using a (color bar) draw style instead of line.

I want to use it on my spreadsheet autotrader and don't have the values to input onto the cell formula

thanks.

Spreadsheet formulas can only work with values and not colors.

You need to analyze the data of that study (Volatility Trend Indicator) to determine the formula to use. It cannot be based on color changes.
