Hi,

i read on how to create continuous futures and it works so far for symbols on IB, I add any recent future and it automatically builts a continuous chart. But when i try to add AIGCI, it does not.

It only shows the data of the current future I add, e.g. AIGCI-201712-ECBOT

The log says:
AIGCI-201712-ECBOT-USD-100 [CBV-D] Daily #1 | Symbol Settings not found for symbol. Unable to build continuous futures contract chart. | 2018-01-22 14:16:28
AIGCI-201712-ECBOT-USD-100 [CBV-D] Daily #1 | There are no continuous futures contract symbols. Loading data normally. | 2018-01-22 14:16:28

Why is that?

What particular futures market is this? Can you provide us a link to the specifications on the CME website. We will then set up the necessary rollover rules for it.

Thanks, it is this one: http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/agricultural/commodity-index/bloomberg-commodity-index_contract_specifications.html
I just realized I can find so far all relevant symbols under the SC Data feed documentation.

More general, I trade a lot of nonstandard futures, like the Eurex 600 Sector futures (e.g. fa/ IB sx7e) which are not defined in the IB service settings yet, and I managed to setup the rules for some by copying other eurex future settings (under symbol settings) to construct continuous charts.

But there are a lot of fields under "symbol settings", which are the most crucial fields I need to fill in order to just show correct continuous charts (without trading or even just to show EOD data (from the SC historical data feed)?
Is there an easier way to set these settings up for a larger number of symbols?

Also, how can i backup the symbol settings? I understood they are overwritten once I update symbols from the server.

thanks a lot!

Since you require many symbols which are not listed it is best that you set them up your self through the Global Symbol Settings:
Global Symbol Settings

For Continuous Futures Contracts, you need to set the settings for the futures pattern, on the Rollover tab:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/GlobalSymbolSettings.php#SymbolSettingsControls

For Historical Daily data from the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service, you do need to set the Historical >> Historical Chart Symbol in the Symbol Settings which is documented in the section linked to above.

To back up the symbol settings you need to backup the GlobalSymbolSettings.XML file. Here is some related information:
