Hello,

Broker: AMP Futures
Data: CTS T4
using server side orders / OCO

According to AMP's statement, there was an open CL Futures trade, running from 1-12 to 1-14, it caused $960 loss - we only use $200 risk, never more. AMP Futures walked away, their statement shows CL Futures open at price of 63.57 on 1-12-2018 and this trade closed on 1-16-2018 on price of 64.53. CTS T4 states there are no issues on their side.

There was no open trade showing on the chart, nothing shows on the chart regarding to an open trade running into nowhere.

We had several other CL trades in between this time period, those opened / closed with no issue.

How is this possible? How can a trade running somewhere on some servers and not showing it on the chart?

Zolie

It is best that you examine this from your side since you have a very good understanding of what you were doing and expecting at each moment in time.

Here is the documentation to determine the historical Position Quantity and why it went to zero when it did (assuming that is what happened):

I don't understand, because the trade log/position log shows the correctly filled stop loss, however the position itself stayed open invisibly and ran away for a couple of days, but this all wasn't showing on the platform - this open position was only showing on AMP statement. How is this possible?

What does the Trade Activity Log tell you about this? Did at any point in time, during the relevant time frame, did it go to zero when it should have been nonzero for the particular Symbol and Trade Account?

Sorry, i don't understand what you mean. There was no visible sign of any open trades or any open positions.

This would indicate that at some point the CTS server reported a Position of 0 for the particular Symbol and Trade Account. Anytime there is a Position update from the server, there is a line in the Trade Activity log for this.

However, this is what we are seeing:

Order  2018-01-12 11:28:30.246  CL.20180200.CME_NY  Updated Internal Position Quantity to -1. Previous: 0                        Unspecified
Order  2018-01-12 11:28:30.248  CL.20180200.CME_NY  Updated Service Position Quantity to -1                        Unspecified

Order  2018-01-12 14:05:17.444    Disconnected from server  None                      Unspecified

So at 2018-01-12 14:05:17.444  when apparently you closed Sierra Chart, there was a Position reported of -1 for CL.20180200.CME_NY. This is what you should have seen.

Thank you, does that mean that the CTS server failed to show the open position?

So is it correct that there was a -1 Position Quantity for CL.20180200.CME_NY aat 2018-01-12 14:05:17.444 ?

We do not know. That is why we a huge disadvantage here.

And when you say that you did not see this on the chart. We also do not know how you are coming to that conclusion precisely. You may not have seen the Position line because it could have been at a price level which was not even visible.
