does it work properly?

All you have to do is enter the symbol in the corresponding input right? As in F.US.EPH18?

We hope to have this done by Friday. At this time avoid using it. It is not going to fully work properly.

Any testing you do with it now also should be on the latest prerelease. Follow the instructions here to update:

Looking forward to this in a major way! Please set it to show the last price value label as visible by default in the subgraph settings.

Version 1675 is now out. Add Additional Symbol is now complete.

There is some minor additional work we will be doing related to it supporting its own price multiplier and preventing the historical data from being cleared when modifying Study Settings directly through the chart for that particular study.

Thank you guys! If this does what I think it will, it will be a nice option from having to use extra charts to overlay and reference :)

Yes it should be able to accomplish what you want. We recommend using the very latest prerelease when using the Add Additional Symbol study.

Update to the very latest "Prerelease" following these instructions:

Only if it is historical Daily data. The file needs to have a .dly file extension. Refer to:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TextCSVDataFormat.html

For Intraday data you need to import the text data first:

If we add futures symbols, what will happen at contract rollover?
Do we have to change/update the symbols manually?

Hi Guys,

Any progress on adding rollover capabilities? I can only backtest so far, since it doesnt do rollover, I can't go back backtest the full history of the open chart.

Also, I have to constantly update the futures contract as it expires.

Please add this rollover capability so that Continuous Futures Contracts are supported!

Thanks

Mike

What was requested in this thread was added, but the Add Additional Symbol study does not have the ability to create Continuous Futures Contracts. We do not foresee that capability being added. At least not for a very long time.

I report a bug of the 'Add Additional Symbol' Study:
when the end date of the main chart is beyond current date, for example 2021-1-1 (in main settings of chart settings), the begin date of 'Add Additional Symbol' Study is wrong.

The issue is : the additionnal symbol $vix is not graphed properly when date range goes beyond current date.
Sometimes it is graphed partially, sometimes not at all (as in attached printscreen).

We have this resolved, but the configuration that you have regarding the last date to load is just simply not going to work properly in the next release. You have to adjust the symbol to the next one at rollover time. There is no other possibility.

Or you could use the Automatically Rollover Futures Symbol option.
