See image - I am sometimes getting this. Any ideas how that can happen?

Yes that does make sense. This can happen with the last bar in the chart when the trend potentially is going to change but it has not definitively changed and there is also not a new bar in the same direction as the prior bar.

It happens when using the Renko New Bar Mode that contains New Bar When Open Crossed.

I see - just to point out that any logic that depends on the Open/Close prices of a renko bar would probably get messed up when the values are zero.

Have few follow up questions

I noticed that the documentation mentions version 1647+
I am running version 1631

1. I think the "New Bar When Open Crossed" was added after 1631?
2. Does it make sense that this happened in 1631?
3. I understand that while the bar is forming, the renko close is not necessarily the same as the last trade price?

This really is not anything new. It has been the case for years now that for the last bar, the Renko Open and Close values may not always be set because the bar is not finalized. In the newer Sierra Chart versions, there is only one particular scenario where they may be 0. This is when the Renko New Bar Mode contains New Bar When Open Crossed:

Just do not use this mode. That will solve the problem.

1. All we can say is just update to the current version.

2. What happened?

3. They are not necessarily ever going to be the same. The Renko close is a manipulated value. You can never put any reliance that it will ever equal the last trade price.
