Hi, I am trading CFDs where the last price is not relevant.

Is there a setting so that I could choose if I want either the ask price or bid price to trigger my stop ?

For instance, at FXCM, they are often widening the spread when the price is nearing market highs or lows. In order to avoid those stops being chased behind candles, when I am long, I would like my sell stop to be triggered from the Ask price instead of the Bid price. Can it be achieved ? Thx

No. If you referring to live trading it should be clear, that we would have no ability to control this anyway.

Live trading indeed. There are some CFD/forex platforms (like JForex from Dukascopy) who have this trigger choice feature between the ask or bid, which is useful against market makers or liquidity providers badly acting. I must say that FXCM does not have the best conduct at all times.

The stop is then simulated platform side until triggered.
When long, the Ask price needs to touch the sell stop level on the platform/data side, then will morph into a market sell order to the broker.

You can use LMAX, Sierra's connector is setup to behave like what to described.

Unfortunately it can't be set user by user, but for now it's like this for everyone (which is what I like too, since , like you say, it avoids being stopped on spread widening)

Merci gomi. So, we agree on the necessity.

That is definitely an option I would like to see popping for FXCM to counter these events because I can count many of these spread widenings during a day. They always happen near candle extremes, rarely in between price distributions.

We will make a note to create a client-side held and managed Stop order with either bid or ask or last trade triggering.

In regards to timing we would hope we could do this in the first quarter of next year.

I like to use stop with the last triggering. According to the documentation, it is working per last traded price. Sierra Chart calculates it according to bid-ask price average(midpoint price) for FX which is fine for me. (as FX brokers do not report last trade price).
I like to color my stop line differently at the chart trading mode. I checked this document Customizing Fonts, Colors, Line Styles, and Widths for Chart Trading, Chart DOM, and Trade DOM but I could not find this stop order type in it.

How can I color "stop with last triggering" attached order type in my chart trading drawings?
Thanks.

You just need to use the color settings which contain "Stop". There are no separate settings for specific stop types.
