Hi,

Renko bar chart is not plotting the same way as before. I have attached two screen shots from v1621 and v1626.
v1626 screenshot - after plotting an up bar it plots one price at the low price of previous bar likewise after plotting a down bar it plots one price at the high price of previous bar.
V1621 screenshot - after plotting an up bar it clearly plots a down bar and vice versa

Please see the attachments, I am using 8tick CL

Thank you

First, the way Renko bars work in the new version, is totally and completely proper. That we are 110% certain of. So either there was something wrong previously, or there is a setting you need to change.

We need to see a chart with standard Renko bars. Duplicate that chart and remove all studies from it. Set Chart >> Graph Draw Type to Renko Bricks with Wicks.

And tell us all of the Session Times you have set on that chart in Chart >> Chart Settings and whether you have enabled New Bar at Session Start.

Provide image of the chart following these instructions only and do not use any other method:

Thanks for the reply

I have not enabled New Bar at session Start. Graph Draw Type is already set to Renko Bricks with Wicks

http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1508636184391.png

Please see 10/18 11:54 bar closed up and next bar @ 12:55 closed down with no wick

Please see 10/19 03:18 bar closed down and next bar @ 03:20 close down with no wick

Along with CL this is also happening on ES and NQ charts

Thanks

This Renko chart is perfectly fine.

If there is any missing data in the chart, then follow the instructions here:

Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Retrying the Download When There is Data in the Chart

At this point we are declining further support. There is nothing wrong here whatsoever. This is only an indication that the Renko bars in earlier versions were apparently wrong in some cases and we apologize for that.

What we are going to add to the documentation now is:

Once a Renko bar body/brick becomes equal to the Bar Size, any trading above that brick in the case of an up Renko bar or below that brick in the case of a down Renko bar, immediately starts a new bar and that new bar begins to form a new Renko bar according to the Renko bar rules depending upon the type.

Now if the issue has to do with alignment to prices, then you may want to use "Aligned Renko Bar" Bar Period Type instead.

Also look at our prior response.

Actually now we understand now what you are referring to. It relates to side-by-side reversals. It is difficult to explain but we are analyzing whether it is proper. Just give us about a day on this to see if it makes sense with how this works now.

We apologize for not being completely clear, but it is just hard to explain. We will post an image later.

Our tentative conclusion, is that the Renko bars are done correctly, previous implementation was incorrect. The fact that you see a very short bar with Numbers Bars when there are reversals does show the odd concept of using Numbers Bars on a Renko bar chart.

At this point, what we decided that needs to be done, is that when the box/brick part of the bar is complete for the last Renko bar, that when there is a price movement outside of it by one tick towards the direction of reversing, at that time we will start a new bar.

This should address the issue. But give us some time to work on the implementation. We hope there are no unexpected complications for this. So we do not want to promise anything at the moment.

This change will not affect the appearance of standard Renko bars. It would only be something which would be noticeable when using Numbers Bars.

Although thinking about it, it would affect the wicks of candlesticks for standard Renko bars.
