Hello

Can someone please tell me why the candle values from previous days keep changing on my charts? Part of my trading method is to analyse multiple volume candle charts. This is how I determine certain levels. However, for the past few days now, I bring up my charts and the candles are different from previous days than they were yesterday or the day before which means my levels, which I have marked, are no long accurate. The candles have different opens, highs, low and closes. Has anyone else been experiencing this also?

thank you,

Ward

We think the problem is that you do not have New Bar at Session Start enabled and you are using chart bars not based upon a fixed amount of time:
Chart Settings: New Bar at Session Start (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times >> Intraday Chart Session Times menu)

I have attached a screen shot of my chart from last night and this morning. You can clearly see the values have changes.

I do use volume candles, not time candles. However, the NEW BAR AT SESSION START is NOT enabled. The problem with having it enabled is that it may end a candle prematurely, before the volume gets to 100,000. It is quite disturbing to me that my levels and candles change every time I enter my charts because if they are not consistent then how can my levels, which I base my method off of, be consistent.

thank you,

In this case you need to set a Chart >> Chart Settings >> Use Date Range >> From date and not change it. But at some point you are going to have to, to minimize the amount of data in the chart.

Refer to:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ChartSettings.html#UseDateRangeFromTo

The inconsistency makes complete sense based upon the settings you are using.

We do not see how you can completely avoid this over time if you do not want to use New Bar at Session Start.

That makes complete sense now. If I choose to disable that setting then it will change the start date everyday unless I set the date to a finite date. It has to start somewhere.

thank you very much for your help in this matter.
